Rachel Roddy’s Italian frittata recipe | A Kitchen in Rome

Studded with courgettes and fat crumbs of ricotta, this light, soft frittata is a herald of summer When did having hard-boiled eggs at Gatwick airport become a habit? Four years ago? Two years ago? I could probably work it out if I went back over the wads of boarding passes and the receipts of my pendulous life, but let’s say it was three years ago. Every time I pass through the swishing electric doors into the arrivals hall at Gatwick, while others step into the arms of loved ones, I step into the refrigerated hum of Marks and Spencer’s food hall and buy two hard-boiled eggs. I might also get some water or a sandwich, a stick of cheddar or …

Here’s what creatives think of the new Mac Pro

Apple’s new Mac Pro is its most powerful computer ever, with performance specs catered toward creative professionals like visual effects artists, musicians, and filmmakers who need a lot of processing power. Creatives have been asking for a new professional-level computer from Apple since the disappointment of the un-upgradable trash can-looking Mac Pro from 2013, and Apple finally delivered this week with something very pricey and very powerful. But is the new Mac Pro actually what pros have been looking for? Disneyland Has a New Corn on the Cob That’s — Wait For It — Coated in Spicy Cheese Puffs

Disney California Adventure’s newest menu item is both corny and cheesy. (Sorry, we couldn’t resist.) Since late May, the park’s Cozy Cone Motel has been selling three variations on elote: corn coated in cotija cheese, cheese puffs, or spicy cheese puffs. The corn comes on the cob, topped with spicy lime mayo and, of coursed, buttered up. The spicy cheese puff corn seems to be the most popular of the three, likely because of its bright red color. It tastes as good as it looks, too. One visitor who tried the corn raved, “The corn is sweet, the cheese puffs are crunchy, and the spicy mayo is flavorful.” What more could you ask for? The corn will be available for …

When it comes to pests and critters, the last thing any of us wants is to find unwanted guests taking up residence in the kitchen. 14 Things That Should Never End Up in Your Dryer

Flammable Stains According to the National Fire Protection Association, between 2010 and 2014, U.S. municipal fire departments responded to almost 16,000 fires that involved dryers and washing machines. Of those statistics, dryers were the culprit of 92 percent of them. While it might seem obvious to never put anything that can catch on fire in your dryer, it’s easy to just toss those pants you spilled gas on in the dryer without thinking. “Washing clothes will not completely remove oil residues,” says Tim Adkisson, Director of Product Engineering at Sears Home Services. “Failure to obey this warning can result in fire, explosion, or death.” Here are 13 ways to de-stink your clothes without washing them. If you’re dryer goes on the …

Dating sites are a great way to meet people if you’re shy about hitting on a stranger IRL. But what if you’re not exactly confident about messaging a stranger on dating site, either? Sure, you’re behind a screen on all of them, but not all dating sites are introvert-friendly (cough AdultFriendFinder cough).  Maybe your problem isn’t the messaging itself — maybe it’s the fact that the only people to message are the same five profiles recycled over and over again, because your current dating site doesn’t do long distance. Enter Zoosk, an online dating site and mobile app that promises ease of use and practicality in the singles world. By world, we mean it — with 40 million users in …

The South Pole is one of the coldest, driest and harshest places on earth. The Aurora Australis can be seen together with the core of the milkyway only here in Antarctica.
