Leaked Google Pixel 4 photos confirm questionable design choices

Google’s not even trying to hide the Pixel 4 anymore. Following a summer of teasing images and pre-announcing new features for the Pixel 4, which is expected to launch in October, alleged photos of the Android phone in the wild have now surfaced. According to XDA-Developers, the two photos of the Pixel 4 were reportedly shared via their Telegram group and seemingly confirm what we already know about the device: it’ll have a bezel above the screen for a shrunken version of Google’s Soli radar sensor and a large-ish square-shaped bump on the rear that houses two cameras. The Google Pixel 4 may have just leaked yet again – Check out these new images! https://t.co/XXRmEI8Kig pic.twitter.com/X12tiZwgfE — XDA Developers (@xdadevelopers) …

New Realme Q series officially arriving on September 5

Realme is having an event in China to introduce its new Q series. The announcement was made on Weibo by the company CMO Xu Qi Chase, who said four new products will be announced. This might sound like four Realme Q smartphones, but in reality we expect the Realme 5, Realme 5 Pro, Realme XT and Realme Q1 on stage. The post on Weibo does not say much about the specs of the phone. We should see another device with four cameras on the back, since the company’s Weibo profile is all about the “four-cam era”. One assumption that could be made is a device with the same design on the back -… Read more: gsmarena.com

On the crest of a wave: Portugal’s new eco holiday retreat

A stylish hotel north of Lisbon is part of a plan to spread tourism beyond Portugal’s popular cities and surfing spots. For our writer and family, it works a treat Rows of bungalows on stilts are stacked up a slope. Some are painted a pale terracotta colour; others are clad in wood. Sliding glass doors open onto balconies that overlook a wide, sandy beach. Clumps of grass sprout from the bungalows’ flat roofs. Spotlit in the early evening light, the geometric buildings of Noah Surf House are as incongruous as they are striking, as if someone has airlifted a Californian beach resort and accidentally placed it in an unremarkable Portuguese town. Why are Koch-funded activists trying to derail a US city’s public transit?

Phoenix will vote Tuesday on a light rail system expansion. It faces opposition from business owners backed by activists affiliated with the Koch network For years, Phoenix’s public transportation plans have included a network of light rail lines connecting downtown to the suburbs, cutting air pollution and carbon emissions in a city dubbed the least sustainable in the US. But as the city prepares to vote Tuesday on an expansion of its light rail system into a poorer, and more black and Hispanic, part of the city, the train is facing opposition from a group of business owners who fear they will lose customers. And they are receiving help from some eye-catching backers: activists affiliated with the Koch conservative network. …

From bombs to Benidorm: how fascism disfigured the face of Spain

As dictator, Franco built a cemetery with slave labour and orphanages for his murdered enemies’ children. Then Spain discovered tourism – and the lager louts flew in The Basilica at Arantzazu in the Basque country was a collaboration between the sculptor Jorge Oteiza, who had just returned to Spain after 15 years in self-imposed exile, and the architect Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oiza (who would become celebrated for his Torres Blancos building in Madrid). Though they won the competition for the building in 1949, it was not consecrated until 1959, after a disputatious decade of ecclesiastical factionalism and local objections. The latter were preposterous given the building’s remoteness at the end of a vertiginous mountain road. The Basilica is the …

This is what Porsche’s all-electric Taycan will look like from the inside

Screens. That’s likely the first thing you’ll notice in these images of the Porsche Taycan’s interior: Lots and lots of screens. The Taycan, Porsche’s first all-electric sports car, will officially be unveiled on September 4, and — aside from concept images — we still don’t know how it looks from the outside. But now, Porsche has shared several images of the car’s interior, as well as the philosophy behind its design.  The basic variant of the car will have three screens: A 16.8-inch curved screen with the instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch infotainment display in the middle, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen with haptic feedback in the centre console. The passenger display that’s visible in the images (Porsche didn’t say how big …
